《生化奇兵》是個第一人稱射擊遊戲，由玩家扮演經基因工程「改造」過的超級槍擊手，能進行比一般射擊遊戲更精彩驚險的動作。例如，玩家可以將任何東西當做武器使用、利用質體調整自己身體的生理狀態、駭入不同的裝置與系統、升級武器並製作各種新彈藥，更可以嘗試各種不同的戰鬥技巧。

　　調整自己身體的生理狀況： 只要利用「質體」這種額外的基因，玩家便可以賦予自身數十種不同的超級能力！例如，玩家可以從手指發射強大的電擊流、或以手臂的血管孵養並釋放出成群的黃蜂，甚至還可策略性地利用反叛劑讓敵人自相殘殺。

◆ 自己的世界，自己掌控：駭入各種裝置或系統中重新撰寫程式，將敵軍的安全防禦系統轉成玩家個人的保護裝置、修改自動販賣機商品的售價，甚至解除敵方的防禦用機關槍砲台，讓它變成一堆廢鐵！

◆ 升級武器：留意分佈於歡喜城內各處的「火力效果站」，只要拾起市內的各種材料，便可以在「自製小站」中自行研發或改造彈藥或質體。

◆ 嘗試各種不同的戰鬥技巧：利用《深海奇譚》的自由戰鬥選項，玩家只要使用不同的武器、顯性或隱性質體或環境物件，或是透過各種政治結盟或組合多項技巧，便可進行變化多端的遊戲情節。你可以依個人風格而行，不過也別忘了要見機行事。

◆ 探索神奇世界：在海底之下還隱藏了一個華麗壯觀的世界喔，自然逼真的水波效果，以及新世代的精緻畫面，絕對能讓你目眩神迷！

◆ 自行判斷正確的決策：你會為了生存而犧牲「歡喜城」內無辜倖存者的生命，還是會為了拯救他們而放手一搏？
